FITZGERALD’S FRIEND

FITZGERALD’S FRIEND: Author and creative writing teacher Mary Jane LaVigne discusses Katharine Tighe Fessenden, trusted childhood friend of F. Scott Fitzgerald who called her “The Grammarian.” She was one of the few people in his circle of St. Paul friends whose literary taste Fitzgerald respected, and he asked her to review and comment on the manuscript version of his first novel, “This Side of Paradise,” before sending it to his publisher. Presented by Fitzgerald in St. Paul in the organization’s monthly FitzFirst reading series. Free. 3 p.m. Sunday, March 3; Merriam Park Library, 1837 Marshall Ave., St. Paul.
